The 2014 Chili and Pumpkin Pie Competition: Are you ready?
Reminder: Our Fall Paleo Chili and Pumpkin Pie Competition is around the corner!
When: Saturday Nov 8th.
- Competitors, please arrive by 5pm with your submissions.
- Judges (aka- everyone else), judging begins at 5:30pm for the Chili competition and 6:30pm for the pie competition. Don’t be late- we don’t want to rush those taste buds.
The Competition Categories:
CHILI:
- Paleo Chili– All ingredients must be paleo approved (no grains, no dairy, no legumes). All chili ingredients must be cooked in the crockpot (cannot bbq, fry, wok, etc. prior to going in the pot… searing or browning is ok).
- Vegetarian Chili– Obviously vegetarian ingredients. Not required to be paleo.
Chili Judging Criteria:
Chili will be judged according to 5 criteria. Chili will be rated on a scale of zero to 10 for each of the 5 categories: color, aroma, consistency, taste, and aftertaste.
PALEO PUMPKIN PIE: Again, all ingredients must be paleo approved (no grains, no dairy, no legumes). Paleo gray area including: maple, honey, agave, and alcohol can be included but must be disclosed. If you are unsure, ask. We will be happy to approve recipes.
Pie Judging Criteria: Pie will be judged according to 4 criteria: crust, filling, appearance, and originality.
