Our kid’s program is specifically tailored to the physical needs of children. In a society where kids want to spend their time playing video games and watching tv, we strive to make fitness something children enjoy. Not only does our program promote fun fitness, but we also aim to develop important life skills such as leadership, social development and nutrition. After spending time in our program you’ll notice your child is making better food choices, easily transitioning into new sports, maintaining better focus in school and sporting a stronger sense of self confidence.
CrossFit Kid’s workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive and general and scaleable for children at any fitness level. Our focus on functional movements develops skills that are fundamental in everyday life for kids: play, pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump to name a few. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of thoroughly trained and certified coaches. If you’re worried about the myth that lifting can stunt growth, please educate yourself and learn that kids lifting weights is totally safe! The activity is, in fact, endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
No two workouts are the same, so kids and teens never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating. Our workouts will increase physical competence in the 10 fitness domains: cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
We understand that kids will mature mentally and physically at different rates. Therefore, the exercises we put them through can be modified according to their current conditions. We work with children as young as 3 years old and up to teenage years. As children get the movements down we start to add very small weight, such as light dumbbells, kettlebells, or medicine balls. The safety of children is our top priority; therefore, proper form will be emphasized before adding any external load.
