Our youth program is specifically tailored to the physical needs of children. In a society where kids want to spend their time playing video games and watching tv, we strive to make fitness something children enjoy. Not only does our program promote fun fitness, but we also aim to develop important life skills such as leadership, social development and nutrition. After spending time in our program you’ll notice your child is making better food choices, easily transitioning into new sports, maintaining better focus in school and sporting a stronger sense of self confidence.
Youth CrossFit workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive and general and scaleable for children at any fitness level. Our focus on functional movements develops skills that are fundamental in everyday life for kids: play, pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump to name a few. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of thoroughly trained and certified coaches. If you’re worried about the myth that lifting can stunt growth, please educate yourself and learn that kids lifting weights is totally safe! The activity is, in fact, endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
No two workouts are the same, so kids and teens never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating. Our workouts will increase physical competence in the 10 fitness domains: cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
We offer three unique kids programs (loosely defined by age) that are specifically designed for the needs of the children participating.
Tikes [Ages 3 – 6] : This program really puts the fun in fitness. All workouts are presented in a game format, so that the kids don’t think of it as a workout, they’re too busy having fun. Our tikes program gets children familiar with the 9 CrossFit foundational movements using bodyweight only.
Air Squat => Front Squat => OverHead Squat
Shoulder Press => Push Press => Push Jerk
Deadlift => Sumo Deadlift High Pull => Medicine Ball Clean
Kids [Ages 5 – 12]: In our kids program, we continue to present fitness in a fun manner, but we take the foundational movements further and focus on perfecting form. As children get the movements down we start to add very small weight, such as light dumbbells, kettlebells, or medicine balls.
Teens [Ages 11 – 17]: The teens program dives deeper into the foundational movements, eventually transitioning from light dumbbells to a barbell, to full on fire-breathing athlete. This program is perfect for children participating in a school athletic program looking to enhance their abilities or for those looking to stay in shape.
